Location

Located in the foothills of the Himalayas and surrounded by lush, green mountains, Nainital is a popular tourist destination. It is one of the most scenic places in India as well as one of the most visited cities for travelers from around the world. Located at an altitude of approximately 984 meters above sea level and situated between two lakes—the Upper Lake and Lower Lake—Nainital has a mild climate all year round. From the city, you can see spectacular views of snow-capped peaks year-round, including Table Top Mountain (1,611 m) to its south and Bhimtal Peak to its northeast.

I stayed at Welcomheritage Ashdale Nainital for five nights during my first visit to this stunning destination.

Accommodation

The rooms are big and clean. The bathroom is spacious and well-equipped with toiletries. The bedroom has a TV as well, which was a bonus to our stay. The staff is friendly and will go out of their way to help you with anything you may need during your stay. The food in the restaurant is delicious and the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options for people with different tastes.

Dining

The dining experience at this property is simply exquisite. The menu offers mouth-watering dishes from around the world, and the food is served with a personal touch. There are plenty of options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, so no one will be disappointed. We were also pleasantly surprised by the variety of vegetarian breakfast options that were available every morning. I found myself looking forward to breakfast each day because there was always something new to try!

Activities

I had never been to a town called Nainital before, so I was looking forward to exploring the place. I planned to spend four days and three nights there, which is not that much time but enough to get a feel of what life in this town is like.

The day after reaching there, I woke up early and headed out to explore the city. The first thing I noticed was the lack of traffic on the roads. There were just a handful of vehicles on either side and most people were walking on foot. It was different from what we experienced in Delhi where traffic is almost always jammed for hours together, leading it to be tagged as one of the most polluted cities in India!

Spa

The spa at the hotel was very relaxing. The staff was knowledgeable and professional. I had never done a massage before, but I will be back for more! The spa offers a variety of services including massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and more. They also offer packages for couples which would be a great way to spend quality time with your significant other.

I got a deep tissue massage from the masseuse and it was intense but worth it! After my massage, I indulged in the spa’s sauna and steam room which were both very relaxing. Afterward, I enjoyed some wine in their lounge area which overlooks the mountainside and offered some stunning views of the valley below.
