You may create an Instagram account using a desktop computer or laptop, a mobile phone number, or an email address.
Prior to starting
Use a secret email address and pay attention to the spelling if you want to register using your email address.
Use a personal account rather than one for work or school if you want to use your email account for an extended amount of time. Because you’ll need to be able to access your email in order to get back into your Instagram account if you log out and forget your password.
Don’t forget that you can’t register for an Instagram account if you don’t have an email address or mobile phone number.

You can do a lot of things to protect your account, like:
- To increase account security, use two-factor authentication. • Never share your password with someone you don’t completely trust or are familiar with.
- Never provide your login details with a third-party programme you don’t know or trust; instead, consider your options before enabling any such application. If you provide these programmes access to your username, password, or access token, they could be able to access any aspect of your account.
- Choose a secure password that is different from the ones you’ve already used for other accounts. To prevent duplication, use at least six unique combinations of numerals, letters, and symbols (such as $@ %).
- Regularly change your password, particularly if Instagram alerts you that you should. Instagram sometimes finds login information that was stolen from other websites during standard security checks. You may stop future account breaches by changing your password on Instagram and other websites if Instagram determines that your password may have been stolen.
- Check the security of your email account. Your Instagram account may probably be accessed by anybody who can read your email. Make sure that each of your email accounts has a different password by changing them all.
- Gather the data. Obtaining a copy of anything you’ve published on Instagram in machine-readable HTML or JSON format will allow you to retain a backup of your data. Instagram should always be logged out before using a shared phone or computer. When entering in from a shared computer, avoid checking the “Remember me” box since doing so will keep you signed in even after you shut the browser window.
Regain access to your Instagram password.
If you can’t recall it, you may use your Facebook account, email address, or phone number to change your password.
- Select the Forgot Password link on the login page.
- To log in with Facebook, enter your username, email address, or phone number.
- Follow the directions on the screen after clicking next.
- A text message or email with a link to reset your password will be sent to you.
