Applying Indian Visa For Australian Citizens
There are a number of important factors to consider when planning a trip to India. Whether you’re visiting for business or pleasure, it’s vital that you apply for an Indian visa well in advance of your trip. Visa on arrival

Tourist visa
The Indian government has introduced a new visa option for Australian nationals: a 30 day e-Tourist visa. However, it is only applicable for Australian nationals who apply outside of the country. Those planning a longer stay in India should consider a one year e-Tourist visa. It is also possible to apply for a 30 day tourist visa two times within one year. If you wish to visit India for business purposes, you can also apply for a five-year business visa that allows multiple entries in its validity. However, this visa cannot be converted to a student or a resident visa. Nevertheless, the Indian government does require that you register in their country within 14 days of arrival.
When applying for an Indian tourist visa, you should ensure that you have a confirmed flight itinerary. A confirmed flight itinerary must show departure from Australia within 48-72 hours.
